Fitness Inductions
A fitness studio induction is required prior to using a gym and to update you with any changes in the past year. Each fitness studio is different and it is important to know how to use the equipment safely and to gain the most from your workout.
The induction lasts one to one and a half hours led by a qualified Fitness Instructor. A simple health questionnaire is completed beforehand. The inductions may either in a small group or on an individual basis. Contact your preferred centre for details of what they offer.
During the induction the instructor will show you the equipment in the studio, how to use it, alter settings, any specific coaching points and safety considerations. There will also be a chance to try out some of the equipment, so please wear suitable clothing and footwear. Feel free also to ask lots of questions. The instructor will be happy to go over any points again if you need a recap.
After attending an induction you will be issued with an Gym Registration Zest card that you will need to show at reception at each visit, or your Zest membership will be validated for gym use. For non members, the induction is part of the annual gym registration process. Remember to book an assessment so that you can also receive an exercise programme to suit your individual needs and motivate you.
Assessments
Fitness assessments are a great motivational tool. You will find out about your current level of fitness and discuss your personal goals on a one to one basis with a fitness instructor. You will be given a personalised fitness programme, enabling you to get the most from your workout and hopefully see some measurable differences when you return for your re-assessment.
During an assessment the instructor will check your blood pre ssure, measure your pulse, height and weight, calculate body mass index and carry out a simple fitness test. This information along with a discussion about your aims and objectives results in a personalised programme specific to your individual needs.
