Well Done Karen!
Monday, 12 October 2009Karen Gutans, a swimming teacher at Lords Meadow Leisure Centre recently took part in the first Hospiscare 1 mile swim at Roadford Lake, near Okehampton. The well organised event took place on 26th September with over 400 swimmers taking part. Exeter FM were in attendance and the crowd helped making the fun atmosphere, enjoyed by all.
Karen spent much of the summer training in the sea at Budleigh. She took part in the Topsham to Turf 1 and a half mile swim, and round Burgh Island 1 mile swim as training for the Hospiscare event.
Karen completed her swim in 39 minutes in the cool 16.7 degree water wearing just a normal swimming costume, brrr! She has raised £600 for Hospiscare which is fantastic considering the recession. Karen would like to thank all her supporters for their generosity.
