Assessment Critera
All swimmers are assessed towards the end of the swimming course and records are completed of their achievements against the assessment criterea of the National Plan for Teaching Swimming. This enables the class teacher to decide which swimming lesson stage will be recommended for each swimmer for the next set of lessons.
Click on the links shown, to read the assessment criterea for each of the swimming stages. From there you will be able to see what your child is working towards at the current stage, as well as their achievements at previous stages.
During a course the teacher will also be continually assessing each swimmer's achievements as new skills are introduced because in order to progress to the next stage, swimmers must have met each of the assessment criterea 3 times or more. If children change teachers for any reason, their assessment record will go to the new teacher who will be able to see at a glance their achievements to date.
