Enrolment and Booking
Firstly, look at the class descriptions and decide upon which level is the most suitable. For children under the age of 5, the choice of level will depend upon age as children are grouped this way for the most effective teaching and learning methods. If you are unsure about the level, please call the leisure centre and ask for a free assessment. A swimming teacher will arrange with you a mutually convenient time to assess the child, so placing them on the correct level.
There are usually spaces available on each level as there is continuous movement between the levels as children move on. Keep checking regularly if you are waiting for a particular day or time, as bookings can change daily. The receptionist will be able to give you an idea of when the different levels are offered and where current spaces are available.
Enrolling on a Course
Before commencement of the first course you will be required to complete a registration form, giving us a few details about the person joining the course. If any of your details change it is your responsibility to update us with these changes. The paperwork should be completed by the parent or guardian of the child and completed along with the relevant payment before the start of the course. Please note that payment is required before commencement of the course. Payments are taken by continuous direct debit in the form of a Zest Membership.
Continual Assessment
Swim Like A Fish operates on a continual assessment basis following the A.S.A. National Plan for Teaching Swimming. Therefore swimmers continue to attend their classes until they have completed all of the requirements and learned all of the necessary skills to the expected standards. If children are ready to move up into the next stage at any time during the course the teacher will give the child a slip to take to reception where they can book into the next stage without having to wait until the end of the current course. This happens regularly, and so the continual movement of children means that places become available in the next stage for them to move into. If there is no space to move into immediately the child stays in their current course and they able to continue to come to lessons until they can move.
